Congratulations, Cosmic Sister Emerging Voices Award (CS EVA) recipient Kamya Buch (@wanderingkamya)!

Kamya is one of India’s leading travel influencers and psychedelic educators who helps other people build digital nomad lifestyles around their passions and runs a travel, lifestyle, and spirituality blog.

Kamya obtained her MSc in Economics from Warwick University in 2015 and spent five years working in social media marketing and development around the globe. “I’ve wandered across ancient lands in South East Asia, felt the cherry blossoms rain on my face in Japan, and spent a whole month barefoot in Eastern Europe. Hitch-hiked with no cash in Hawaii and zipped across the mountain passes in Switzerland,” she says. “Not to mention sleeping under the Milky Way in the remote Himalayas and going through six ayahuasca ceremonies in the Amazon Rainforest.”

Plant medicines have opened many doors for Kamya, impacting her relationships, healing, and understanding of life. “I think one of the biggest things is understanding our connection with nature, that we are interdependent and our actions impact our natural ecosystem in a big way,” she says.

Kamya founded the Psychedelic Society of India (@psychedelicsocindia) to bring more research-led dialogue around the huge potential of entheogenic medicines in trauma healing, de-addiction, consciousness expansion, and spiritual growth. “As of now, there is not much harm-reduction awareness in India and no distinction between substance abuse and the power of entheogenic plants,” she says. “India is one of the last countries in the world that still celebrates its ancient origins in such a big way, yet in modern society there is not much knowledge about sacred plant medicines, which were essentially demonized by colonial forces,” she says.

In partnership with the Spirit Plant Medicine Conference (SPMC), the CS EVA increases visibility for talented women in psychedelics and cannabis who work tirelessly in behind-the-scenes roles, as well as newcomers who bring unique voice and talent to the community and/or who shine in spotlight positions.
