Sandra Garcia in Asheville, NC

Cosmic Sister Sandra García

Faith in Spirit and a lifelong quest to live her own truth led Sandra from Bogotá, Colombia, where she had a thriving career as graphic designer in advertising, to Asheville, North Carolina, where she found her calling as a Spanish interpreter in the Western North Carolina region and a mosaic, fresco and fused glass artist specializing in mandalas and mixed media art that express her love for Mother Gaia.

After she earned a bachelor of arts in graphic design from University Jorge Tadeo Lozano, Sandra followed the expected path and built a thriving career working for major advertising firms in Bogotá. Ten years into her career, she knew something was missing. Her art was being used to manipulate people into consuming products she didn’t believe in, and she knew she was on the planet for something more than that. Sandra began journeying. She left the corporate world behind and enrolled in an English language intensive course for a year in Sydney, Australia. She never returned to the 8-to-6 paradigm.

Sandra’s life’s work is about sharing the vision of perfection and oneness and the connection between all beings that she has experienced through ayahuasca. Her life’s work is about sharing that vision. Sandra recently displayed The Kaleidoscycle, a piece created from bicycle wheels and recycled plastic that documents the lives and journeys of immigrants in western North Carolina, at the University of North Carolina-Asheville. After years of interpreting, she’s deeply in touch with parents, students, teachers and her local community. This experience has enriched her life.
