Cosmic Sister

Cosmic Sister is an environmental feminist collective and creative studio founded in 2007 by ZOE HELENE, who originated the term “Psychedelic Feminism,” a sub-genre of feminism that embraces sacred psychoactive and psychedelic plants and fungi, such as ayahuasca, peyote, iboga, huachuma (San Pedro), psilocybin mushrooms and cannabis, as nature’s co-evolutionary allies for healing, self-liberation and empowerment, and for exploring core feminist issues in fresh and exciting ways. Our focus is on informed, intentional journeying from a women’s rights and empowerment perspective in a safe, legal set and setting. Zoe believes that creating a true balance of power across the gender spectrum—globally—is the only way humans (and non-humans) will survive, and that it is our moral responsibility, as Earth’s apex predators, to protect and defend the rights of non-humans to live freely in thriving, uncompromised wilderness sanctuaries.

Advocacy Projects

Educational advocacy is an essential element of our approach. We have several interconnected advocacy projects in place that help spread the word about good work being done by women around the world. Our advocacy work includes multiple projects that we've broken up into several main sub-sets, with plenty of cross-over and cross-pollination content. Please visit our ADVOCACY PROJECTS page to learn more.

Mission

We champion the arts, women, wilderness and wildlife and for our right to work with sacred psychoactive and psychedelic plants and fungi – our co-evolutionary allies. Educational advocacy is a core concept in our approach to supporting rapid cultural evolution. Our interconnected advocacy initiatives spread the word about good work being done by women around the world. We promote women’s voices in the field of psychedelics (and beyond) and support women (and people across the gender spectrum) working in and for the arts, environment, human and non-human rights, progressive wellness, ethical lifestyle choices and more.

Vision

We envision a healthy, life-affirming balance of power between genders, worldwide. We envision a well world where women are fully respected globally, where their voices are heard and respected, and where a natural, healthy, life-affirming gender balance is restored. We believe that many of the world’s most critical problems are a result of a gross gender imbalance that has been sustained for thousands of years. We do not want our species to evolve in the direction we see the majority of human beings choosing, and we wish to be part of a global cultural shift that helps us evolve more rationally and with functioning minds, hearts and spirits with respect and love for all earthlings and the planet we all depend on to survive. We are passionate about helping to protect wilderness spaces and wildlife species that are currently in crisis or threatened.

Who We Are

Our TEAM is a diverse group of powerful, talented women with shared goals and values.

Cosmic Sister is also a diverse collective of kind, creative and courageous women who are contributing in some way to positive change in the world. We're givers and growers, truth-seekers, trailblazers and love warriors. We are interested in healing, empowerment, self-liberation, and human and nonhuman rights. We hold each other’s best interests at heart and have hope for the future.

Values

By working collectively while respecting the journey of each individual, we have greater power to create a better way of life in which all parties truly thrive and to insure we leave behind a world worth inheriting.

What We Do

We further our mission by:

  1. Promoting positive voices and the work of women who are members of Cosmic Sister and/or who fit the Cosmic Sister profile.
  2. Creating, pitching, placing and publishing high-quality educational materials promoting environmental sustainability, human and non-human rights, diversity and cultural preservation, the arts and sciences, mind/body/spirit wellness and more, with preference given to women who are members of Cosmic Sister and/or fit the Cosmic Sister profile.
  3. Educating the public honestly about the benefits and risks of (legal) intentional work with psychedelics, with a special focus on sacred plants (and fungi) such as ayahuasca, cannabis, peyote, iboga and psilocybin mushrooms, while promoting gratitude and respect for Indigenous wisdom.
  4. Promoting quality products and services that are sustainably produced, earth-friendly, animal-friendly, ethically produced, artisan-made, vintage recycled or repurposed, with preference given to women, women-owned businesses, or organizations led by women (but we do not exclude men). Preference is also given to women who are members of Cosmic Sister and/or fit the Cosmic Sister profile.
  5. Educating the public honestly about the importance of nonhuman rights with a special focus on the arts, wilderness, wildlife, women's rights and diversity as essential by lifting the voices of women on the frontline in these fields.
  6. Educating the public honestly about the importance and complexity of true sustainability and global trade, with special attention given to sacred reciprocity and cultural exchange through plant medicine traditions, informed mindful trade in fine Indigenous arts and medicinal plants to provide a positive, real-world model for supporting cultural and environmental diversity.
  7. Educating the public honestly about the importance of human rights with a special focus on women’s rights.
  8. Developing and publishing educational materials that further the mission/vision.
  9. We acknowledge that gender is a spectrum and honor all individuals who share our values and demonstrate outstanding work in support of our mission/vision.
